DEGESA International.

Argentina

Brazil

In 1993, DEGESA-JSR decided to internationalize the company by sending a full nucleus from Spain to Córdoba (Argentina). In six months two shipments with enough animals, both dam line and sire line were sent out to guarantee the independenceof the nucleus in Argentina.

Nowadays DEGESA Argentina have a nucleus farm of six hundred great grand mothers in Salsipuedes, Cordoba. From this farm is sold the pure bred animals as well as the terminal boars. The most part of the production of this farm goes to the multiplication farms which belong to Hiasa (Hídridos Argentinos S.A.), a company involved with Degesa-Argentina which owns two centres of multiplication. The first in Córdoba with one thousand mothers and the second in Zarate, Buenos Aires, with capacity for 2000 mothers.

The international experience is being frankly positive and we can say that in 1997 80% of the pigs finished in Argentina came from progeny of Genetics of Degesa Argentina. In 1997 Itega S.A.(Instituto Técnico Económico de Gestión Agroalimentaria S.A.) was set up. The aim of this company to provide advice to other companies in the porcine sector, that ranges from selling products(slats, feeders etc…) to the definition and direction of projects. In 1998 we signed an agreement with JSR Healthbred to incorporate their Landrace and Large White lines in ours. In 1999 we took control through DEGESA Argentina the control of JSR Suinicola del Brazil.
